Lent is one of the grand celebration of the Roman Catholic Church where all believers commemorates the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. A time of fasting, sacrifices and prayer. This is a five-day observance that starts on Holy Thursday. On this day, Visita Iglesia
is made by the faithful.This practice was introduced by the Spanish colonizers which goes back to the time of the early church where Christians would visit seven great basilicas in Rome for the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament during Maundy Thursday.
For us, Filipinos, this is also a time for friends and family bonding. We all look forward to go for a trip together to visit different churches no matter how far it could be and adore God in the Blessed Sacrament.
